Terms

The agreement between you and Communities when you read or post here.

Draft of 14 September 2026. This text has not yet been reviewed by a qualified adviser and will change before launch. The governing law and the supported regions are not yet set.

Agreement

By reading or posting on Communities you agree to these terms and to the Guidelines. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

You must be at least 13 years old.

Accounts

An anonymous account is created in your browser the first time you take an action that needs one. There is no password. You are responsible for the browser session that holds it; if you lose it without a recovery email, the account cannot be restored.

Adding a recovery email is optional and is required only to post under a public profile or to create and own a community.

You may have more than one account. You may not use several accounts to evade a restriction, to inflate likes or replies, or to make a conversation look busier than it is.

Your content

You own what you post. By posting you give Communities a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, distribute and make searchable that content, and to show it under the alias or profile it was posted with, for as long as it remains on the service. The licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies in backups until they expire and for restricted safety records.

Public threads and replies may be indexed by search engines and shared by link. Deleting content leaves a neutral placeholder so other people's replies keep their place.

You are responsible for having the rights to what you post, including images, and for not posting other people's private information.

Rules

The Guidelines are part of these terms. In short: no harassment or threats, no exposing private people or anonymous participants, no sexual content involving minors, no scams, spam, impersonation or vote manipulation, no encouragement of serious self-harm, and respect for other people's work. Disagreement is not abuse.

Communities

Anyone with a recovery email can create a community, set its purpose and rules, and invite moderators. Owners and moderators act only within their own community and only through the tools the service provides.

Communities may archive or suspend a community that breaks these terms, is abandoned, or cannot be moderated. Ownership may be transferred only with the explicit acceptance of the new owner.

Enforcement and appeals

Depending on the breach, content may be held or removed, a thread may be locked, and an account may be warned, restricted or suspended. Where it is safe to do so you will be told which rule was involved, what was affected, and how to appeal.

Appeals are made through Safety. Where possible a decision is reviewed by someone other than the person who made it; when the service is operated by one person, a documented second review is used instead and that limitation is disclosed. Serious harm may be acted on without prior notice.

Deleting content yourself and a moderator removing it are different things. A successful appeal cannot restore content its author has since deleted.

Images and media

Uploads are limited in size, number and a daily allowance, are re-encoded on our servers, and may be removed if they break the rules. GIF search and video playback come from outside services under their own terms.

Availability and support

Communities is provided as it is, may change, and may be paused or discontinued. Coverage and response times are not guaranteed, and the service is not an emergency channel. Contact local emergency services if someone is in danger.

Support: support@thecommunitiesapp.com. Safety: safety@thecommunitiesapp.com.

Disclaimer and liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Communities is provided without warranties of any kind, and Communities and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for content posted by other people. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Governing law

The governing law and forum for disputes are not yet set. They will be stated here, after qualified review, before launch.

Changes

When these terms change we will update the date at the top and describe the change on this page. Substantive changes will be announced on the home page before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the new terms.
